by the waters edge

where I squander my affections

Sunday was a drive up to Lost Lake looking for little rainbows.  I needed to wrap my arms around a quiet sort of restfulness in the scope of nature.  All the good things ~ strong coffee, forest, a soft pearly rain squall on the lake.  Nature always astounds. I am born for places like this.

What the lake gave me:

velvety green handfuls of moss, stones in the shade of bone, the light! the soft winds! gigantic tangerine mushrooms and that altogether wild feeling you get when everything weary falls away. No amount of time is ever enough. There's so much beauty it could make you cry! I may just start sleeping out here.

And that Lucy.  She's simply the beautifulest!

The road driving home was a happy one. This sweet life of mine.
