Wildly creative, intuitive and kind-hearted the teachers at the Luminous elephant are handpicked for their gift of teaching from the heart. They are definitely the kind of people you want to sit next to at a dinner party - and they always get up and help with the dishes.

    Kaitlin Wiebe

    Kaitlin has been painting and making ever since she was a kid. “I love using flowing, curvy shapes, and bright colours in my work. My usual subjects are our furry friends, and powerful beautiful women. Whatever your interests are, I can't wait to paint and create together!”

    Carol Mooking

    Carla Mooking is a Trinidad born, Canadian raised visual artist. Her refreshingly imaginative graphic style is characterized by vivacious energy, organic shapes and vibrant colours that are a direct influence of her Caribbean roots.

    Dami Jung

    Dami is our sunny Socials Instructor. After a year studying at UBC she followed her passion for the Arts and is shining away at Emily Carr. You will find her leading Socials in the studio painting on fabric with her signature Anime flare.

    Olivia Rinne

    Olivia Rinne is from Calgary, AB, currently living in Vancouver, BC. She is enrolled at Emily Carr University of Art and Design studying Photography and Print Media. She does a bit of everything, some figurative, some environmental and some social and is currently obsessed with old camera gear and the process of merging her photography with print making.

    Ilsa Walker

    We love Isla! You will find Isla working weekends in our happy studio running birthday parties with her uplifting energy and beautiful way with inspiring kids. She is also the Co-director of our awesome 'Luminous Girls - Friendship club' as well as an instructor in our Spring and Summer camps.

    Bita Mojtahedzadeh

    Bita is a second year Science student at UBC working on her neuroscience degree. She is passionate about mystery novels and painting with pastels and acrylics. She is loved by her students in the Adult drawing classes at Luminous Elephant as well as her Science camps for the Summer Camp Kids.

    Carolina Fierrot

    Carolina is a Vancouver based, Colombian artist and freelance designer. Her inspiration comes mainly from nature and her journey through self-discovery. She is inspired to explore our connection with the universe. Her hope is to bring some light into her student's life and share the beautiful energy of love that moves within us.

    Serisa Fitz-James

    Serisa is a Filipinx-Canadian Artist currently working and residing in Vancouver BC Canada, the Unceded Territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam Peoples.

    Jensen Taylor

    My name is Jensen and I’m a going into my second year of a history degree at UVic. I have always loved working with kids which is why I am happy to be an instructor of summer camps at Luminous Elephant Studios.

    Jeong Min Ahn

    Jeong Min Ahn is an emerging Korean hyperrealist painter, based in Vancouver BC. He graduated from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2020, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He has trained professionally with hyperrealist artists in Korea, such as Jeong-Hae Kwang. His recent exhibitions include AIRE 2020 at the Canadian federation Art Gallery, ArtRich 2019, of Richmond Art Gallery, and he was the recipient of the 2019 Richard Alm Scholar Award from the Federation of Canadian Artists. He plans to pursue a Masters Degree in Fine Arts in the years to come.

    Samantha Harrison

    Samantha Harrison is a Canadian artist with a background in oil painting and drawing, and is a recent graduate of Emily Carr University of Art + Design, with a BFA. Her of her exhibition history includes shows like Discovery 2021 at the Seymour Art Gallery, Capturing Moments at Place des Arts, AIRE 2020, at the Federation of Canadian Artists, and Art Rich 2019, at Richmond Art Gallery. She is intensely interested in Classical Realism and Photorealism, and this is reflected especially in her oil paintings.

    Ben is a visual artist from Banff, Alberta. He primarily works with painting, collage, and drawing. He enjoys painting murals and working collaboratively. He moved to Vancouver to study at Emily Carr University where he received a BFA and a minor in community engagement.

    Ben’s work explores transformations and distortions that happen while merging mediums, and the interplay of organic and synthetic. His work aims to find a balance between play and critical thinking. Making images that unfold spontaneously and resist concrete interpretations. Following curiosity and striving to make art that is accessible for diverse communities.

    Heather Woolley

    Heather is an emerging product designer at Emily Carr. She specializes in wood-based design but enjoys cross-combing a multitude of materials. She gets most of her inspiration from the landscape of the west coast.

    Jesica Kruger

    Jessica is a quadriplegic baker, decorator, and business owner. In 2019, after completing a Baking and Pastry Arts diploma, she started her custom dessert business, “The Stubborn Baker”, and has been dedicating herself to spreading joy through edible art ever since!
